Handwritten Letter Tattoo Madrid · Real Handwriting
Have something written by someone special? At Sinkply Madrid we tattoo it exactly as written. Fine line, from €50. Find out how it works.
Some handwritten things should never be lost.
A note on a creased piece of paper. The signature on a birthday card. Some words scribbled in a hurry that — for some reason — you've kept all these years.
At Sinkply we take that piece of paper directly to the skin. No interpretation, no redesign. Exactly as written, with all its details, its shake and its personality.
Here's what we do, how it works, and what you should know before booking.
What exactly is a handwritten letter tattoo?
A tattoo where we reproduce a person's actual handwriting, exactly as it appears on paper. Not a font that looks like handwriting. Their writing. Yours, your mother's, your partner's, someone's who isn't here anymore.
It can be a few words, a phrase, a signature, a name, a date. Whatever that person wrote.
The final result is a fine line tattoo that keeps every original detail: pen pressure, the curves typical of that person, even the small imperfections that make it unique.
How does the process work? Easier than you'd think
Step 1: send us the photo
Take a clear photo of what you want to tattoo: a letter, a card, a piece of paper, a phone note — whatever it is. Send it via Instagram DM or bring it the day of the appointment. It doesn't need to be perfect, just clear enough to read the writing.
Step 2: we tell you the ideal size
Depending on the area you choose (wrist, forearm, collarbone, ribs…), we recommend the size that fits best and ensures the tattoo holds up over time. Fine line has its quirks: too small and certain details may not last the same.
If you'd rather it be exactly the same size as the original, we can do that too. Your call.
Step 3: the day of the appointment
Bring the original if you can, or just the photo you sent us. We prepare the stencil, show it to you before starting, and once you give the go-ahead, we tattoo.
What kind of writing can be tattooed?
Most of them. Here's what we do most often at Sinkply:
- The signature of a loved one who's no longer here
- The last words someone wrote you in a letter
- A child's name written by them when they were learning to write
- A message from an anniversary card
- The handwriting of a grandparent, friend, sibling
- Your own writing — because it's yours and it counts
What we do need is for the writing to be legible and the photo sharp enough to reproduce details. If unsure, send it and we'll tell you right away whether it's viable.
Why fine line and not another style?
Fine line is the style that best reproduces handwriting. Thin lines capture details exactly as they are: the variable thickness of a stroke, the natural curves, the subtlety of a signature.
A thick or filled stroke wouldn't give the same result. Fine line makes the tattoo look genuinely written on the skin, not drawn.
At Sinkply we've spent years specialising exclusively in fine line. It's the only style we do — which means it's the only style we're really good at.
How much does it cost?
This kind of tattoo starts from €50. Final price depends on size and complexity of the writing.
If you want a precise quote before booking, send us the photo via DM and we'll tell you, no commitment.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I tattoo the signature of someone who passed away?
- Yes. It's one of the most common reasons people request this tattoo. If you have something with their writing, you already have everything you need.
- What if the photo isn't perfect?
- Send it anyway. In most cases we can work with it. If there's a problem, we'll tell you before confirming the appointment.
- Will the tattoo last as long as a normal one?
- Yes, with the same aftercare as any fine line tattoo. We explain the full healing process when you come in, and the price includes the second skin patch that protects the tattoo during the first days.
- Can I see examples before deciding?
- Of course. On our Instagram you'll find a selection of this kind of tattoo. It's the best way to see how they look at different sizes and placements.
- Have something written you want to turn into a tattoo?
- Send it via DM. We'll tell you if it's viable, what size works best and what it would cost. No commitment.
